Hello, I'm Neil. I write about how the natural world heals the human mind. My work sits at the crossroads of three passions: Green (and Blue) Exercise, Dementia Care and Social Enterprise.
I believe that whether you are navigating a Dementia diagnosis, caring for a loved one, or leading a non-profit through a crisis, the answers to our questions are often found through reconnecting with nature and outdoor actvity.
I am a trail runner, outdoor swimming coach, dinghy sailor and relief skipper with Loch Ness Cruises. I lead Adventure holidays with Dementia Adventure and am on the board of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
My Background
I have a degree in Human Psychology and was made a Clore Social Fellow in 2010. I founded Dementia Adventure with Lucy Harding in 2009 and I led, developed and grew Nairn's Green Hive during the covid years.
Want to read my best work? My writing explores the intersection of nature, dementia, and resilient leadership. I publish my deep dives and personal essays on my Substack Newsletter first. If you want to join a community of people focused on positive ageing, resilience and nature, come join us on Substack.
